Lovely start to the new season

We opened a month ago and it has been great to see so many return visitors and some new friends as we head towards Easter. Lots of cakes have already been baked to welcome guests including a new favourite of mine The Devonshire Honey Cake...delicious!

This has been our first full March and the weather here is Devon has been really superb. It was not only sunny but also warm and our shorts were on as we enjoyed not only beach walks but a few hill walks too. This weekend we have taken advantage of another sunny day (although it has been much cooler recently) to walk a bit further on the South West Coast Path - we completed a section of about 19km from Sidmouth to Exmouth, arriving in Exmouth at the oldest and most westerly point on the Jurassic Coast, the red rocks at Orcombe Point. You can see Budleigh Salterton beach in the photo and clear in the distance you can see the familiar cliffs of Sidmouth to the east of the town.

There is a lot to look forward to in Sidmouth this year as the social calendar gets back in full swing again....as well as Folk Week in late July/early August there is also a new Jazz and Blues Festival taking place for the first time over the long early June bank holiday weekend and we wish them every success in their first year. And of course there are many local events and we will try and do a better job this year of keeping our guests up to date with what is on...

If you are looking to book a holiday we look forward to hearing from you very soon and we still have some availability over the Easter weekend. See you soon with a very warm welcome (and usually also cake!)
